Over the summer I'll be showing Walkerloo in a bunch of different places the first being the re-enactment weekend of Waterloo in Belgium 18-21st June. It was here in 2008 I launched Walkerloo. The re-enactment is a fascinating and surreal spectacle! |

In the weeks before Christmas 2007 I took Walkerloo to several markets about London. This is Leadenhall, a splendid Victorian shopping arcade in the heart of the city. I enjoy showing off my armies epecially before an unsuspecting public - ambush! One remarkable buyer of Walkerloo was a descendent of Major-General Halkett, a key player for the Allies at Waterloo. He bought a box full of soldiers as a present for his colleague who was the decendant of Marshal Grouchy! If the Marshal had 'marched toward the guns' could he have saved the day for Napoleon? When the editor of Military Illustrated passed by he was sufficiently impressed to write this, nice. My final 'Celebrity' buyer would be Rachel Whiteread (Turner prize winner) who returned to my display with an extra fiver after not having quite enough cash on her to pay for her son's Walkerloo starter pack. Thanks to all! |
